As the European Union’s AI Act begins to reshape the regulatory landscape for artificial intelligence, organizations across industries are seeking practical guidance on how to understand, implement, and comply with its requirements.
This webinar brings together experts from academia, law, and technology to explore the path from AI regulation to real-world implementation. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of the EU AI Act, its ethical foundations, and its implications for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The session will also showcase practical approaches, frameworks, tools, and methodologies that support the development and deployment of trustworthy, compliant, and responsible AI systems.
The webinar will open with an introduction to the EU AI Act and the broader concept of AI ethics. Yasaman Yousefi, Researcher in AI Ethics at DEXAI, will explain why AI regulation is needed, what challenges it addresses, and how ethical considerations complement legal requirements in the development and deployment of AI solutions.
Florian Schuck, Policy Officer at the European DIGITAL SME Alliance, will provide insights into the policy implications of the AI Act for SMEs. His presentation will examine the opportunities and challenges businesses face as they adapt to the new regulations and discuss practical considerations for compliance.
The role of data spaces as a foundation for trustworthy AI will be explored by Anil Turkmayali, Head of Research and Innovation Programs at IDSA. He will discuss the transition from AI systems that consume data to AI agents that actively participate in data ecosystems. His presentation will demonstrate how data spaces provide trusted environments through verifiable identities, enforceable usage policies, data sovereignty, and accountability mechanisms.
Building on these foundations, the webinar will present practical solutions that help organizations translate regulatory requirements into operational processes.
Veronica Campell, Lawyer at the Malta IT Law Association (MITLA), will introduce the DataPACT AI Compliance Framework, a methodology that supports organizations in identifying and addressing legal, ethical, environmental, and societal obligations across data and AI pipelines.
Stefano Modafferi, Researcher at the University of Southampton IT Innovation Centre, will present the DataPACT AI Compliance Toolbox, a comprehensive suite of tools supporting regulatory and ethical compliance, including consent management, compliance verification, fairness assessment, explainability, and trust management capabilities.
Representing the CERTAIN project, Isabelle Landreau, expert in data privacy, data protection, and digital ethics at Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas, will demonstrate how the CERTAIN methodology supports organizations in implementing the requirements of the EU AI Act and embedding compliance into AI development processes.
The webinar is organised by the DICE Alliance, a collaboration of four EU-funded projects ‒ ACHILLES, ACCOMPLISH, CERTAIN, and DataPACT ‒ that share the common goal of enabling trustworthy, transparent, and compliant AI and data ecosystems in Europe.
The webinar will conclude with an interactive discussion, giving participants the opportunity to exchange views with the speakers and reflect on the practical implications of the AI Act for organizations and AI innovation in Europe.
