ACCOMPLISH Joins DICE Alliance at Data Spaces Symposium 2026 to pioneer Compliance-by-Design for AI

Last week, the ACCOMPLISH project took center stage at the Data Spaces Symposium 2026, participating in a high-impact joint session organized by the DICE Alliance. Alongside partners from DataPACT and SAGE, ACCOMPLISH contributed to the session: “Embarking on a Compliance-by-design Journey: Data Spaces as a Technical Backbone for Responsible AI.”

The session moved beyond theoretical legal frameworks to showcase practical, technical innovations. The goal? To demonstrate how data spaces can evolve into “compliant-by-design” infrastructures that reduce administrative burdens while maximizing trust and legal certainty.

Interconnecting data and AI compliance

Representing ACCOMPLISH, Sergio Gusmeroli (Politecnico di Milano) delivered a keynote presentation titled: “Interconnecting the Data and AI Compliance Journeys: the ACCOMPLISH approach.” Gusmeroli highlighted how ACCOMPLISH is bridge-building between raw data sharing and the rigorous requirements of the AI Act. By embedding compliance directly into data pipelines, the project ensures that the data fueling next-generation AI is not only interoperable but inherently responsible.

Global synergy and technical milestones

The session also featured:

  • An introduction to the Gaia-X Danube architecture by Alberto Palomo.
  • Insights into the Green Deal Data Space from Mark Dietrich.
  • A global perspective from Prof. Hiroshi Mano (University of Tokyo), who showcased Japanese innovations in machine-readable data usage rights.

As the industry looks toward a “Responsible Digital” future, the ACCOMPLISH project continues to lead the way in turning regulatory requirements into scalable technical reality.
